This week, there's an "ink blackout", spoofing the recent power blackout, and it's one of those weeks where the characters are self-conscious that they are in a comic strip and they can talk to characters from other comic strips. They got some "emergency reserves" up and running, so you can see Jason Fox represented by his hair, glasses and ear, and Peter Fox represented by his baseball cap, eyebrows and ear.
PANEL 1
Peter: Garfield is saying the ink outage started in Canada.
PANEL 2:
Peter (continued): Meanwhile, the For Better or For Worse kids are blaming the U.S.
PANEL 3:
Jason: What's Doonesbury say? He got the Pulitzer.
Peter: Oh, you know him. Everything's Clinton's fault.
(exeunt)
Everything's Bill Clinton's fault? In liberal Doonesbury? I read the strip, and I know that the character of Mike Doonesbury's gotten older and relatively more conservative (re: slightly less tax-and-spend liberal( over the years, but, still, you know that if Garry Trudeau is going to blame anything, it will be Bush/Cheney/Reagan/Haliburton/"Big Oil"/Enron/Fox News/etc...
Since I mentioned Foxtrot, I might as well give the obvious link: the first, and seemingly only, chapter in a Foxtrot/Harry Potter crossover "slash" erotic fan fic. Ah, the wonders of fan fiction...
