WHY DOES RUSH LIMBAUGH KEEP ON SAYING...
..."onion" in relation to the Judge Alito supreme court confirmation procedures? He usually says something along the lines of "pay attention to your onions". Is this some sort of regional, like from Missouri, American expression that is just going over my head? In my 12-plus years of listening to the guy, I can't say that I remember him ever using that expression before.
I think, by "onion", he's suggesting the senate Democrats, especially Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, and Patrick Leahy, are causing too much of a stink over too little, but I'm strangely reminded of, of all things, the French translation of the Sailor Moon manga, wherein, when Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity) first meets Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask/Prince Endymion) in the first chapter of the first volume, she says to him "occupe-toi de tes oignons, crétin!", which means, literally, "occupy yourself with your own onions, you cretin!", meaning "mind your own business!"

Yes, for those of you that can read French, the French manga translation uses the exact same joke as DiC's old English dub of the Sailor Moon anime for Usagi (Serena)'s unusual hair-do: "tête à boulettes" really does translate to "meatball-head", whereas, in the original Japanese version, Mamoru (Darien) calls the balls "o-dango atama", which translates, literally, to "dumpling head".
